iBurst is a wide-area mobile
broadband technology that offers a unique combination of high speed, wide range
and high base station capacity. It has primarily been developed for data
applications and proves to be more efficient and cost effective to the various
data technologies based on voice networks such as GSM, CDMA and 3G Standards.
It was developed by ArrayComm and
subsequently adopted by the Alliance of Telecommunications Industry as the HC -
SDMA (High Capacity Spatial Division Multiple Access) radio interface standard.
The technology uses Adaptive Antenna Arrays and High Capacity Spatial Division
Multiple access to optimize the use of its bandwidth and provides wide area
broadband wireless data connectivity for fixed, mobile computing and portable devices.
Currently iBurst operates in the 1.8
GHz frequency range and supports data rates of up to 1 Mbps.
